After finding myself writing haikus and sonnets to my managers in the warehouse, I decided to put my creative efforts to slightly better use: in the form of Youtube review videos.

Using only a webcam, thumbtacks and whatever backdrop I can find, I hope to mimic the already enumerable videos that plague that website, in all their awkward glory. What is filmed is raw and unscripted, and I only choose food and things that I have not previously sampled. This way, the viewer will get a fresh, unbiased perspective on the stuff!

These cards were made from the SVU Classicist. The show has been airing for over 15 years and lately, has lost much of its campy qualities and original cast members. Though Special Agent Dr. George Huang is no longer a member of the SVU squad, I felt it important to pay homage to his expertise which probably saved the other detectives from a lot of unnecessary psychological speculation. Another friend of mine told me about a theory which bases the quality of an episode on the appearance of Mariska Hargitay's hair was in the opening scene (i.e. if her hair looked good, it was going to be a good episode). This theory definitely holds true for Seasons 1-12.

Not everyone I know enjoys Law & Order: SVU, so other Valentines had to be made. To the left is what would happen if Britney Spears went through a "Lamb Phase." I guess my ultimate goal was to create an imperfect image digitally that incorporated elements of the handmade. For instance, through simply creating a visual hybrid of relationships between a person's own interpretation of a pop culture entity, the resulting image, whose structure is founded upon borrowed imagery, still maintains its one-of-a-kind-ness. 

Today I finished up framing a couple of painted gouache works on paper that I worked on last year, drawing references from 90s entertainment culture and Pre-Raphaelite compositions and themes. Framing was challenging considering that I currently live in a SRO with a night-stand for a desk and a bed for a worktable! This Saturday, February 21st, I'll be in a group exhibition at Flying Pig Bistro Pub in San Francisco. Longtime friends Fred Gray and Sam Solano will be exhibiting work there as well! The show should be up for a month or so.
