FREEKSHOW (2016)

Installation View, Digital Arts Research Center, UC Santa Cruz
Promotional Video for FREEKSHOW
FREEKSHOW is a video projection + noise performance that took place in the Digital Arts Research Center at UC Santa Cruz.

Video artists were invited to contribute video content to be projected on white structure.

I played ambient noise with delay and distortion pedals while hidden behind a sheet for the duration of the performance.

Phone Art

These collages are created using free image editing software for the smartphone. They influenced my Post-Media Roleplay image series, for I use a combination of pictures I took with my phone along with images found on the web.

100 Knives (2015)

Digital Arts Research Center, Santa Cruz, CA, 2015
'100 Knives' is a three hour endurance performance incorporating knife-throwing and sound. I threw some Cosmic Fantasy Kunai at a target that I built using foam, cardboard and some piezo transducers. The sound is fed through a mixer and altered by distortion and delay pedals to create feedback loop of knives' initial contact with the target.

I incorporated techniques learned from do-it-yourself combat videos found on YouTube and surviving Shurikenjutsu texts.

From the Inside Out: Form Follows Function (a love story) (2012)

Picture
Many are familiar with the downfall of the publishing industry due to the behemoth book distributors like Amazon cornering book sales. I teamed up with an author and together we embedded an illustrated novel broken up into sections onto Amazon book listings.

The books in their inventory had no previous publication data due to the rarity of the books themselves. Alabasterpages, though nominally an Amazon storefront, is actually an illustrated novel, From the Inside Out: Form Follows Function (a love story). The alabasterpages storefront is being used as an alternative publishing platform and a "virtual" gallery. The beginning of the story could be found at the alabasterpages storefront homepage and the story could be traced through around 200 or so book listings .

The story being told is the story of new magic coming into the world alongside the story of the book that would document this story as it comes into the world. Unfortunately, due to the changing nature of the UI design of Amazon, the story is currently inaccessible.
